Davis Applied Technology College

In an effort to accommodate extensive growth coupled with state mandated budgetary constraints, the Davis Applied Technology College has recently reorganized its Student Services functions. The focus of the reorganization is to provide better customer service by de-compartmentalizing the office, providing inter-department cross-training, and developing consistent processes throughout Student Services.

Terri Stephens
Terri Stephens, the former financial assistance manager, was named associate director of Student Services. She still manages the financial assistance and scholarship functions but was also given responsibility over enrollment and placement functions. The change will result in an eventual shift of responsibilities and planned job re-evaluations for all of the financial assistance staff.

Donna Brown
Donna Brown is moving into a new office and assuming increased responsibility as a result of the huge growth and the reorganization at DATC.

BYU

Cherie Egan
Cherie Egan is the director's new assistant in BYU's Financial Aid office. She comes to us from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is determined to get her degree in political science and fine arts. She has four brothers and one sister. Her favorite color is purple. She loves to read anything by CS Lewis. Her favorite movies are Shenandoah and It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart. Cherie's hobbies include writing and genealogy. She enjoys art, museums, theater, music, movies, and reading.

Kelly Wilson
Kelly Wilson is the new manager in our phone/window area. She is new to the Financial Aid office but not to BYU. She has spent several years working full-time for Financial Services as an accounting specialist while obtaining her bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in communications. She comes to us from Illinois (even though she hasn't lived there in a pretty long time) and is married to Preston Wilson.

We surely appreciate the unique contributions both Cherie and Kelly are making in our office.

Eagle Gate College
New to the financial aid arena are three financial aid professionals currently at Eagle Gate College in Murray, Utah. Left to right: Tricia Rodriguez, Anne Funkhouser, and Krista Bult-Winter. Each individual has business experience in the areas of office management, accounts receivable/payable and customer service. We welcome you and look forward to a promising future in federal student financial aid.

Southern Utah University

Malinda Rhodes
Malinda Rhodes joined our staff 16 April 2003. She came to us from Albertson's where she had worked for 16 years. She is married to Scott and has three handsome sons, Daniel, Preston and Kaden. She was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada but soon realized her mistake and moved to UTAH! Her hobbies are eating, going to movies, boating, camping, skiing and dressing up for Halloween. Malinda has a delightful personality and is a laugh a minute. We at Southern Utah University feel very lucky to have her on board.

Stacey McClure
Stacey McClure started working at the financial aid office under the workstudy program 16 October 2000. She worked with us until she graduated in May 2003. Stacey met the love of her life, Michael, while attending SUU and they were married 26 June 2003. Stacey was born in Provo, moved with her family to Boise, Idaho and soon realized her mistake and moved back to UTAH. Stacey was rehired on 16 October 2003 as our scholarship specialist. Her hobbies are going to movies, scrapbooking, camping and spending time with her family.

UHEAA

Brian McGill
Brian McGill has joined our staff as senior outreach services officer. Brian will be working with Phil Bernal in advancing UtahMentor, UHEAA's comprehensive college preparation web site, to middle and high school students throughout the state of Utah. Brian will be training middle & high school counselors, careers teachers, and other district leaders about the career and college opportunity learning for students in using UtahMentor, and assisting school counselors with students' SEOP (Student Educational Occupational Plan) processing by conducting student focus groups at various schools across Utah. Brian will also provide UtahMentor support to the Utah Council, PTSA, State Office of Education, and other state, national, and community organizations. Brian's vision for UtahMentor is to create and program a customized website that is an electronic one-stop shopping source for students and parents which provides access to post-secondary educational and occupational opportunities.

Brian comes from Riverton High School where he was a counselor and tennis coach. Previously, Brian worked in the clinical counseling field and in the middle school in both the Davis and Jordan School Districts. He has a master's degree in educational and clinical counseling from the University of Phoenix, is a licensed professional counselor, and has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Utah.

Sasha VanOrman
Sasha VanOrman has a new role at UHEAA as senior technology development officer. She has been employed by UHEAA for the past eight years and her expertise has been utilized in many areas of UHEAA over this time period. Sasha started as a loan collector in the post-claim services area of UHEAA. Six years ago, she was promoted to UHEAA's data base quality area. There she has served as data base quality analyst, data base quality officer, and most recently, senior systems support officer.

In early 1998, Sasha took a leave of absence from UHEAA to serve as an intern for the Committee for Education Funding, located in Washington, DC. She earned her bachelor's of science degree from the University of Utah, majoring in business management.

As senior technology development officer, Sasha is a welcome addition to the technology development area of UHEAA. Under the direction of David Olson, Sasha will be an additional resource for technical and customer support.
